Well, yeah, it's been 6 months or so since I've owned a Wii. After that, I bought some games as well as accessories such as a stand with wiimote charger, another set of wiimote and nunchuck, etc.
Well, as I've seen this entry from Plynoi, I'd like to show my damages after owning a Wii, albeit this is still not final (my further plan is to own a DS Lite :P).
Right, these are my damages...
Wii Sports (included with console)
Surf's Up (came with console as a promotion from Kmart; traded off for A$17 as I bought Dancing Stage :P)
Wii Play (a Wiimote included)
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (a Nunchuck included)
Mariokart Wii (Wii Wheel included)
Dancing Stage: Hottest Party (or Dance Dance Revolution in JAP and US; Dance mat included)
Wii Fit (Balance board included)
PS. My Mariokart Wii WFC no. is 4296-3365-9283, if somebody would like to add mii~~
Actually, at the beginning, it's my Boss's demand from a month or two ago. But now it's my own will to get it. Mariokart for Wii has been release in Australia on 24 April, yes it's yesterday. I had a plan to buy it yesterday, however, couldn't make it to the store.
Today, the ANZAC Day, I'd gone to a department store in the morning (I mean before noon :P) but all stores opened 1pm today (damn it!). However, after that, I went to Chadstone and try to find a cheap one. After I went to JB-Hifi ($79, but will be cheaper when trading in an old game) and Kmart ($77) , I couldn't find one as it's sold out!! (sold out... a day after released). Alright, my last resort was EB Games, nevertheless, while I was on the way, I went into Toys 'R' Us. How lucky I am, there was 2 boxes left, so I got one at AU$75 ^_^ Woo Hoo~~
Well, yes, I posted this entry from my Wii using Opera browser and a usb keyboard.
For a new version of Wii, you have to buy the Internet Channel which is the Opera browser, costing 500 Wii points. It is fine in browsing www, posting blog, checking emails. It can't display Thai, though (of course, Thai input is impossible). The screen estate is quite important, because if you use Wii browser on a small screen TV, you can't read anything comfortably. The page have to be magnified using '+' button and contents need to be scrolled up and down, back and forth. Input system is quite awkward, needing to switch to the input screen everytime you need to in put text. Well it's not a good idea to use Wii internet channel for everyday use, replacing your PC (or iPhone :P ) browser. Just occasional browsing when you're stuck with your game on Wii is fine.
Elephants Dream is the world's first animation created with Opensource graphic tools, from people at the Orange Open Movie Project studio. It was released last year as well as all production files and behind-the-scene movies under Creative Commons. However, I haven't watched it up until now. I think it has a quite abstract story line and cannot be easily understandable.
After watched it, I decided to make a subtitle for this movie. I can understand what the characters say but in not exact words. I tried to find the English full final script which was on Blender.org server. Unfortunately, it's not there anymore. Anyway, I'm lucky enough to find it on Google cache server and then I can release my Thai subtitle using Ksubtile on my Kubuntu box.
The translation was not difficult as it's just plain English. However, to sync subtitle to movie was a pain. For 10+ minutes movie, I had to use more than 5 hours to sync the subtitle - -' (My first time, though. It may improve as I have more experience.)
Anyway, you can download subtitle file here (Please save target as...). Many thanks to Khun wd for hosting my files :) (Sorry for bothering you so much).
To use subtitle with VLC:
Firstly, fire up your VLC program.
Next, from menu File, select Open File...
Open an AVI file and tick "Use a subtitle file" and browse to open a subtitle file (*.srt).
Click "Advanced settings" and choose subtitle encoding as utf-8 (or default)
Click OK and OK then enjoy Elephants Dream with Thai subtitle :)
For first time user, you may have to set font for displaying subtitle. You can find it in Settings > Preferences > Video > Subtitle/OSD > Text renderer.

I know it's quite old for this song and music video from Final FantasyX-2 (I've never played this game.) But I've just discovered that it's melting my heart. I think it's far better than 'Eyes on me' of Final Fantasy VIII. :) The good thing is that it's available on iTS Japan; the bad thing is that it's not available on iTS Australia :( ... So, Apple couldn't get my money again.
1000 Words
-=Sweetbox=-
I know that you're hiding things Using gentle words to shelter me Your words were like a dream But dreams could never fool me Not that easily
I acted so distant then Didn't say goodbye before you left But I was listening You'll fight your battles far from me Far too easily
"Save your tears cause I'll come back" I could hear that you whispered as you walked through that door But still I swore to hide the pain When I turn back the pages Shouting might have been the answer What if I'd cried my eyes out and begged you not to depart But now I'm not afraid to say what's in my heart
Though a thousand words Have never been spoken They'll fly to you Crossing over the time and distance holding you Suspended on silver wings
And a thousand words One thousand confessions Will cradle you Making all of the pain you feel seem far away They'll hold you forever
The dream isn't over yet Though I often say I can't forget I still relieve that day "You've been there with me all the way" I still hear you say
"Wait for me I'll write you letters" I could see how you stammered with your eyes to the floor But still I swore to hide the doubt When I turn back the pages Anger might have been the answer What if I'd hung my head and said that I couldn't wait But now I'm strong enough to know it's not too late
Cause a thousand words Call out through the ages They'll fly to you Even though I can't see I know they're reaching you Suspended on silver wings
Oh a thousand words One thousand embraces Will cradle you Making all of your weary days seem far away They'll hold you forever
Oh a thousand words Have never been spoken They'll fly to you They'll carry you home and back into my arms Suspended on silver wings ohhh
And a thousand words Call out through the ages They'll cradle you Turning all of the lonely years to only days They'll hold you forever
